Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini, the leader of Operation Dudula, has been arrested. The arrest emanates from a charge which was laid at the Dobsonville police station on Wednesday where a complainant was accompanied by the Economic Freedom Fighters to open a case against the leader of Operation Dudula.
Lux became known to the public during the July civil unrests in Soweto when malls were being looted following the arrest of former President Jacob Zuma. The group known as Soweto Parliament rose and defended malls in Soweto which were being looted and managed to save Maponya mall from being looted like the other malls around Soweto.
More recently, Nhlanhla Lux has been part of a movement called Operation Dudula which aims to track down shops owned by undocumented foreign nationals, tracking down illegal immigrants and fighting to get rid of drugs. Members of Operation Dudula raided the house of 59-year-old Victor Ramerafe last week Sunday accusing him of selling drugs.

Ramerafe accompanied by members of the EFF went to open a case against Nhlanhla ‘Lux Dlamini who is the leader of Operation Dudula. The EFF saw the attack on Ramerafe as an attack on one of their own because he is a member of the EFF.
Dan Radebe, Operation Dudula chairperson, confirmed that Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini was arrested on Thursday afternoon shortly after his interview with Khaya FM at the Parktown studios. “He was informed that it had to do with the Dobsonville case. It was a smooth arrest because he didn’t resist. We are still trying to find the facts but, in all likelihood, he will appear in the Roodepoort magistrate’s court on Friday,” said Radebe.
