While the police have been on the look for the suspect who attacked the well-known South African artist, Dr. Esther Mahlangu, Nathi Mthethwa has condemned the attack.
“Today let’s call on all South Africans to recall their ubuntu. The attack on Dr. Mahlangu yesterday was stupid and self-hate. I spoke to her earlier on, and she is strong. All of us as members of Parliament must have her in our thoughts and prayers,” said Mthethwa as per IOL.

Mahlangu, 87, was attacked on Sunday by an unknown who punched and strangled her until she lost consciousness.
Mahlangu said she was grateful for the support she had been receiving, but wasn’t ready to address the media.
“I thank the support I am receiving. I am not ready to address the media, my child,” Mahlangu said.
According to News24, her neighbour, Nakabini Masango, said she heard Mahlangu screaming asking for help.
“As I stepped out of the house, my daughter Hlobisile returned screaming that Mahlangu was bleeding. I ran to Mahlangu and found her injured. She was bleeding on her face.

“Mahlangu was scantily dressed. A cloth used to gag her mouth was on her neck. She was crying, narrating how her attacker bound her hands with a cellphone charger and repeatedly beat her up,” Masango said.
