In 1996, Mandy Allwood made headlines after announcing that she was pregnant with eight babies. Mandy, called “Octomom” after finding out she was pregnant with eight children went into premature labour when she only 24 weeks pregnant.
Mandy was forced to give birth to the babies over three days and three nights but none of the babies survived.
Mandy fell into a deep depression after losing her children and turned to drugs and alcohol for comfort. In 2007, she lost custody of her three children who she mothered after the death of the octuplets. Her family also cut all ties with her.
She then got cancer and was operated on but the cancer reportedly came back according to her landlord.
“She had been struggling with cancer for a while and had an operation before Christmas but told us recently that it had come back. I don’t know what sort of cancer it was.”
Mandy will be cremated on Friday, 4 February with no mourners present after her family reportedly declined an invitation to attend her funeral service.
