Prisoner bags seven distinctions behind bars

A 23-year-old prisoner named Khanyile Faba inspired thousands of South Africans after he decided to redo his matric and earned seven distinctions.

Faba is currently serving a ten-year-sentence at Brandvlei Correctional Centre and decided to redo his matric even though he passed the first time. He not only passed but got seven distinctions.

Faba ended up in prison after getting involved with the wrong crowd and while in prison he reflected on his choices and were he went wrong and he decided to dedicate all his free time to studying for his exams.

Faba got distinctions for the following subjects:

Isixhosa- 82%

English 1st additional Language-80%

Mathematics Literacy-88%

Business Studies-99%

Life Sciences-90%

Tourism-93%

Faba shared in an interview that he would love to further his studies and pursuing a career in engineering.
