Alan Winde, the Western Cape Premier, announced the immediate suspension of Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz on Sunday evening.
Winde said that serious accusations were leveled against the MEC regarding his conduct in the week.
“I have summoned the [MEC] and informed him of these allegations, as well as my decision to suspend him with immediate effect, which he has accepted,” said the Premier.
Details have not yet been revealed but a full investigation into the matter has been launched. Winde said that Fritz has offered his cooperation. “An update will be provided in due course,” said Winde.
