A man who allegedly killed his mother was arrested by the community and handed over to the police.
The victim (59) was reported missing to the Knysna police on Monday 10 January 2022 and the police worked around the clock to locate her.
Capt. Malcolm Pojie, police spokesperson, says she was last seen alive on 7 January 2022 and with the help of the dog unit and the community, her partially decomposed body was found on 11 January 2022 by a member of the community in forests between Alemein and Stroebel streets in Hornlee, Knysna.
Son allegedly killed mother
An autopsy was performed to determine the possible cause of death. Such report is not available at this stage and will be submitted to the court as part of the evidence.
The community arrested the victim’s son (28) on January 14, 2022 and handed him over to the police.
The suspect will appear in the Knysna Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of murder. He is currently still in custody.
