Two former paramedics who posed as nurses to steal medication from terminally ill patients to feed their addictions have been jailed for five years each.
Ruth Lambert and Jessica Silvester, who are engaged, prayed on terminally ill patient receiving end-of-life care during lockdown by posing as nurses to gain access to their homes to steal the medication.
Through their work as paramedics, they had access to patient records and after choosing a victim they would send WhatsApp messages to confirm the identities of their victims before visiting their homes and stealing from them.
An investigation found that they carried out up to 19 burglaries.
Both pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to burgle and conspiring to commit theft as well as stealing a £14 000 ultrasound machine and each were sentenced to five years in prison.
