A “stillborn” baby, who was born at home, was pronounced dead by a doctor, only for the funeral director to find a heartbeat during the preparation for the funeral.
The Mirror reports that the mother (18), whose name is not mentioned, was not aware that she was pregnant and went to a hospital in the Brazilian state of Rondonia on December 27, 2021 for help.
She went to the hospital twice with severe pain after which she was apparently sent home by medical workers without them realizing she was pregnant.

According to the woman’s family, the pain at home worsened and she gave birth to the baby without medical help.
The baby weighed only 1 kg at birth and it is suspected the mother was only five months pregnant when she went into labour. The baby was pronounced dead by a doctor when they went to the hospital with it.
The funeral director, whose name was not mentioned, went to the hospital to take the baby’s body and prepare it for the funeral.
He picked up the body Tuesday around 3 p.m. A few hours later, as he was performing the funeral procedures, he noticed that the baby was sighing and that his heart was beating.
He immediately took the baby to the hospital and the newborn baby was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit for treatment.
The baby’s health status is currently unclear.
The family and the funeral director apparently submitted a police report. The investigation continues.
