Former police official set to appear in court for alleged fraud

NORTHERN CAPE – A 61-year-old former Lieutenant Colonel of the South African Police Service (SAPS) was served with summons on Thursday, 02 December 2021 by the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation team on allegations of fraud.
 
The former police official worked at Provincial Crime Intelligence in Kimberley and was supposed to attend a work session in Pretoria but it was postponed before he could even travel. It is alleged that during November 2021, he submitted a fraudulent travel claim of more than R3 000 purporting to have attended a work session.
 
The matter was reported to the Hawks’ for investigation and the former police official was summoned to appear before Kimberley Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 19 January 2022.
