Cosatu, the trade union federation, responded to President Cyril Ramaposha’s speech on Monday, calling for stricter rules for people who did not get the Covid-19 vaccine, especially those who refuse to take the vaccine.
“Any restrictions in the future must be imposed on those who fail to vaccinate. Those who are vaccinated should be allowed to get on with life. Incentives and rewards must be used to encourage everyone to get vaccinated,” said Cosatu.
The federation said insufficient progress is currently being made on educating people and persuading them to take the vaccine.
Cosatu is also reportedly ready to involve the government in protecting employees and ensuring that everyone is vaccinated.
It added that South Africans must now jointly become involved in the requirement of vaccinations to enter public spaces, shopping malls, restaurants, events, sports.
