According to Isaac Phaahla, the Kruger National Park spokesperson, a filing station at Lower Sabie remains closed after a fire broke out late on Saturday evening.
It is understood that the fire was caused by a lightning strike.
According to the park, the fire was contained by the Kruger National Park’s firefighting team. A Working On Fire team from Malelane had also been dispatched as a safety precaution.
Phaahla said that no injuries were reported but the facility was completely gutted.
“Tourists and visitors are advised to get enough fuel from either Crocodile Bridge or Skukuza because the Lower Sabie filling station won’t be operational,” Phaahla said.
