Two people died and another was injured after a person fell seven Floors at an ABBA tribute concert in Sweden.
About 1 000 people had gathered at the Uppsala Konsert and Kongress hall near the capital, Stockholm, for an ABBA tribute concert on Tuesday evening. However, 30 minutes before the start of the show, a person fell and landed in the open foyer on the ground.
According to the police, the person landed on two people and the person who fell died as did one of the people they landed on. The third person was left with non-life threatening injuries and has since been taken to hospital. None of the victims have been named by police.
“We received a call about someone having either jumped or fallen from a high altitude,” police spokesman Magnus Jansson Klarin told the AFP news agency.
He stated that officers were working on establishing what exactly had happened, adding that it was too early to say if a crime had occurred.
The concert hall was initially closed by police so that witnesses at the scene could be questioned.
MTLive, the events company that organized the tribute show, wrote on their Facebook page: “Unfortunately, we have to announce that a terrible event has happened. What we know is that someone jumped [or] fell high in the arena and hit other people. Right now we don’t know much more, everyone is in shock,” the company said.
This tragedy occurs only a few days before ABBA is due to release their first new album in more than 40 years.
