Wayde Keegan Fredericks (29), a single father of a seven year old girl, nearly lost his life in a car accident and “by the grace of God got a second chance at life”.
Born and raised in Kimberley, he works as an asset controller officer at the High Court in Kimberley.
“I was involved in a motor vehicle accident in 2017. I broke my neck and sadly lost my best friend. I was hospitalized for over a month. By the grace of God, I got a second chance in life.”
Wayde is a hip-hop dancer and also coached a hip-hop dance crew, Hardknox. The accident that forever changed his life, happened a week after returning from a national hip-hop competition in Cape Town.
“The highlight of my life was getting a second chance. It’s something that not many people get…I’ll leave it at that.”
Although he is known as a socialite, Wayde says he values his alone time.
“I enjoy being around friends and family, but if there’s one thing people don’t know about me, it is that I actually value my time alone. It’s a contradiction, I know, but I really enjoy spending time alone as it enables me to reflect. I also spend most of my time with my daughter. Although co-parenting isn’t easy, it’s important for me to constantly remind my daughter of the love I have for her.”
Wayde also spends a lot of his time working out and has recently joined Herbalife.
“I’ve become more health conscious and I’ve realized the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle. Being active in the gym has benefited me mentally and emotionally as I’m using it as a space to empty myself out. Dealing with the loss of my best friend hasn’t been easy.”
