While Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram – all owned by Mark Zuckerberg- went down on 4 October, the internet entrepreneur was sailing the high seas.
On 4 October, three of the world’s most popular social media apps were offline for several hours. This caused panic from users who rely on these apps for business, work and social purposes.
“We’re aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment. We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!,” wrote the official WhatsApp page on Twitter.
Many users flocked to Twitter to rant, rave and joke about the apps being down and seven hours after their first post, WhatsApp let users know that they were slowly getting the app to run again.
“Apologies to everyone who hasn’t been able to use WhatsApp today. We’re starting to slowly and carefully get WhatsApp working again. Thank you so much for your patience. We will continue to keep you updated when we have more information to share,” wrote the official WhatsApp account on Twitter.
Now many wondered what Mark Zuckerberg was doing while this was happening seeing as he owns these apps and should be held responsible for all three apps.
So while one would assume he would be right there in the fray trying to find the problem, it was revealed that he was sailing the high seas with his wife and their friends instead.
“Sailing with Priscilla and friends. Shot on ,” wrote Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook.
Once users were able to get back online, many of them left comments under the CEO’s post lamenting the fact that he was not there.
