Cogta Minister, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has gazette that the National State of Disaster on Covid-19 will be extended until 15 September 2021.
Dlamini-Zuma made a statement in which she said that the extension of the National State of Disaster, to 15 September, takes into account the need to continue augmenting the existing legislation and contingency arrangements undertaken by organs of state and all other role players in order to mitigate against the impact of the disaster on lives and livelihoods.
“All people are urged to continue adherence to regulations under Alert Level 3 in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” she said. She added that: “Everyone has to wear a mask at all times, social distance, avoid large crowds and gatherings, and wash hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.”
So far, 3 839 052 adults have been fully vaccinated and as of Wednesday 11 August, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in SA is 2 554 240 with 7 502 new cases.
On Wednesday, a total of 573 deaths were reported, bringing the total of deaths to 75 774. On Wednesday recoveries stood at 2 337 591 with 140 875 active cases.
