A video from a supposedly Russian vlogger, who speaks English with a Russian accent, has circulated social media where he complains about South Africans eating “Russians”.
In the video the vlogger is outraged as he says he came across a video made by South Africans who were discussing how much they love chopping and cutting Russians, eating them with their hands or cutlery, choosing and cutting Russians. One South African woman can be heard saying in the video: “I chop them in half and I deep fry them.” While another man said he likes it when they peel and look all pink.
The vlogger responds by saying it is cannibalism and against human rights. The video has apparently been shared on a news website in China and Russia with one report translated to English that reads: “There have been several disturbing reports circulating recently, but are these reports credible? South Africa has become the focus of the world. Recently, it has been reported that South Africans proudly admit to eating Russians. Is this a common practice or an isolated incident? What is happening in South Africa will prompt people to do this heinous behavior, and what has the Russians done is worth doing.”
“Since these events in South Africa were first revealed, the Russian media and citizens have expressed their anger, and their government has not yet responded. Nonetheless, events of this nature will certainly stir up some form of international tension.”
“Judging from the tone and overall attitude of the participants in the video, people can clearly know that South African citizens believe that there is absolutely nothing wrong with what they did. This became more apparent when participants began to happily describe how they like to eat Russians the most.”
“According to the source, in South Africa, people don’t even need to travel too far to find the “delicious Russians” described in the video. Obviously, it is easy to find and sell from street vendors, cafes and public supermarkets.”
“This seems to be a tradition in South Africa. It has been under the nose of the world for decades, and they show no signs of change. How will this shocking story end?”
SA journalist, Tom Eaton, joked: “Thoughts and prayers to (SA Vice President) David Mabuza as he frantically sends an encoded memo to Moscow, replying to an enraged message from Vladimir Putin demanding to know why #ILoveEatingRussians is trending in South Africa.”
Mostly South Africans appear to be amused by these reports.
