There are some Australians that are very upset by the fact that there are people who eat ostrich meat, stating that it’s gross and inhumane to eat ostrich. Others would love it if their local supermarkets stocked it.

But either way, the “bizarre” meat offering – imported from South Africa and sold in Britain- has caused a furious debate between Australians.

This debate was apparently started after a post on a Facebook group for “Aldi mums”, which showed an Aldi in the UK offering ostrich fillet steaks at £3.99 for a 250g pack (about R320 per kilogram) with the comment “(h)ow cool would this be for Australia to get?”

A few of those who responded obviously didn’t think it was that cool, whereas others pointed out the similarities with eating chicken and educating their peers on how ostriches were farmed.
