Four South African billionaires were named in the UK’s Sunday Times Rich List for 2021.
The list records 250 of the wealthiest individuals and families in the UK, this includes many businessmen-and women who have dual citizenship through business investments or residency in the country.
The four South African billionaires are Nicky Oppenheimer, Douw Steyn, Manfred Gorvy and Nathan Kirsch.
The Oppenheimer family leads the local rankings, with Nicky Oppenheimer et al having an estimated net worth of R114.2 billion.
Eswatini businessman, Nathan Kirsch, follows the Oppenheimer family on the Rich List with an estimated R82.3 billion.
Douw Steyn’s net worth climbed with about R21.7 billion over the last year which takes his estimated value up to about R40.4 billion.
South African-born Manfred Gorvy’s value is about R13.3 million.
UK’s Sunday Times said that the Covid-19 pandemic seems to have spawned more billionaires then any other point in British history.
