This newborn boy has been named ‘Hypertext Mark-up Language Rayo Pascual (HTML) by his father who is so passionate about his job as a web developer that he wanted to pay homage to his career via his son’s name.

Mac Pascual, age not stated, a web developer from the Philippine Province of Bulacan has named his newborn ‘HTML’ which stands for ‘Hypertext Mark-up Language Rayo Pascual’. HTML’s dad told the local news site inquirer.net that having unique names is a family tradition.

He explained that his name ‘mac’ was short for ‘Macaroni ’85’ whilst his sister’s official name is ‘Spaghetti ’88’. Pascual claims that this sister ‘Spaghetti’ has two children called ‘Cheese Pimiento’ and ‘Parmesan Cheese’ who go by the nicknames ‘Chippy’ and ‘Peewee’.

Developer father names boy HTML

The inquirer.net reports that HTML was born healthy weighing 2.25 kilogrammes (4.9 lbs) at the Bulacan Medical Mission Group Cooperative Hospital. HTML’s aunt, Sincerely Pascual, snapped a picture of the new member of her family and posted it on Facebook with the caption ‘Welcome to the world HTML’ last Thursday (10th June). The post quickly racked up interest and it has now been shared 8,978 times whilst comment have come flooding in.

Some Netizens reacted by mocking the name and sarcastically suggesting other coding acronyms for future children. ‘Shiela Tiffany Easton’ suggested going for: “Results-based management system” whilst others suggested ‘JavaScript’ or ‘Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Some Netizens voiced their concerns for the future of the little boy such as ‘Aizek Lexi Epsicr’ who commented: “In the future, he could be targeted by bullies and ridiculed.” Celina Genato replied: “If I were the boy I’d sue my parents one day.” ‘HTML’ joins other babies who became hotly discussed topics from birth thanks to their obscure names.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, and Claire Boucher, better known as Grimes, made headlines when they named their son ‘X Æ A-12 Musk’. The model and actress Emily Ratajkowski announced via social media earlier this year (March) that she would name her newborn ‘Sylvester Apollo Bear ‘.
