In this times of the global pandemic, many people feel COVID blues, and COVID blues are usually signs that you might be feeling weary, weakened, despondent and feelings of COVID-19 fatigue are finally creeping in within you.
And, sometimes, the solution to this emotional rollercoaster is to get back to your drawing board, for you to remember that we might be facing COVID lockdown but we are not knocked out.
The time frame of your dreams has not expired. The time frame of your ambitions have not yet reached the ceiling.
Usually, farmers are a perfect epitome of keeping at it, whether times are favourable or not, whether season’s are favourable or not, because farmers do not become weary when the climate or weather conditions are not favourable for crop nurturing.
Although difficult as it seems, don’t lose hope, for weeping endures for a moment, but joy comes in the morning.
Therefore, as young people and people with a vision, we need to have the mindset of a farmer who keeps on digging trenches, who keeps on working their land – despite unforeseeable circumstances, and unfriendly socioeconomic situations.
Feeling COVID-19 lockdown blues should be something that we need to bear with for a little longer than expected, but it is in that moment that we realize that our vision, goals, ambitions and dreams cannot be locked up.
Be one of those who refuses to quit, and becoming a statistic of quitters – and revisit the drawing board, speak to your role models and mentors, and rally your support structure behind you.
For it is in those difficult moments that we do need to do two things:
1. Revisit your vision boards. Don’t quit on your goals, just restructure your plans. And if possible get some rest, and necessary inspiration to start again on your fitness goals, or any other set goals for your life.
2. Last, but not least – talk to your mentors, loved ones and support structures for a necessary boast of confidence, because support is a necessary component for human wellness.
In closing, we might be harshly feeling COVID-19 lockdown blues, but we are not defined by them.
Always choose to start over again when you feel like you have not yet achieved your goals, for quitters win nothing in life, as we enter the second half of this year.
Happy Youth Month.
