SOUTH AFRICA. – The online sports and rugby memorabilia auction to raise funds for Care 4 Kings is on!
Braam van Straaten, chairman of Care 4 Kings and former Springbok rugby player, says he is overwhelmed with the response.
“Almost 60% of all items have bids on them. The most popular item so far is the Opus book, which is standing on a bid of R8 000. We are so grateful for the interest and support. Thank you to everyone who is supporting us.” If you have not yet placed a bid, bid here.
Have a look at all auction items here. The auction will carry on until tomorrow evening at 20:00. Van Straaten will also be appearing on the popular television show, Toks & Tjops, tonight.
Van Straaten says, even though the auction is doing fantastic, the management of Care 4 Kings are in tatters over the sudden death of the son of one of the management members, Cassie Carstens.
“We received the news during the night that Cassie’s youngest son, Armand, died in a car accident in Wellington a little after midnight. Our hearts are breaking for Cassie and his family. It is with mixed emotions that I got up this morning. My heart is with Cassie, who is so knowledgable about South African rugby and contributed tremendously to the success of the auction so far. We pray for Cassie and his wife, Matty and their eldest two children.”
