NOORD-KAAP – Xolani Goodman Malgas (53), die voormalige waarnemende bestuurder van die Ubuntu-munisipaliteit en ’n kontrakteur, Dan Bevin Sonwabo Nkili (58), het Dinsdag ’n kort verskyning in die landdroshof op Victoria-Wes op aanklagte van bedrog en korrupsie gemaak.
Na bewering het Ubuntu-munisipaliteit in Victoria-Wes, Noord-Kaap gedurende 2016 verskeie betalings aan verskillende diensverskaffers gemaak sonder om behoorlike verkrygingsprosedures te volg.

NORTHERN CAPE – Former Ubuntu Municipality acting Manager Xolani Goodman Malgas (53) and a contractor Dan Bevin Sonwabo Nkili (58), made a brief appearance in the Victoria West Magistrate court on Tuesday facing charges of fraud and corruption.
The two suspects were arrested in the early hours of Monday by the Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team.
It is alleged that during 2016, the Ubuntu Municipality in Victoria West, Northern Cape, made several payments to various service providers without following proper procurement procedures.
They were required to supply and deliver several materials to install electricity to 206 households as well as delivering different supplies for road upgrades in the area which never happened. The money involved is estimated at R2 million.
Malgas and Nkili were granted R30 000 bail each and the case is postponed to 05 October 2020 pending further investigations.
