KIMBERLEY – Die polisie het Mandela-dag gevier deur vir ’n gesin wat alles in ’n brand verloor het, beddegoed en kruideniersware te skenk.
Die weduwee van ’n afgetrede polisieman en haar vyf kleinkinders het onlangs wakker geword van ’n woedende vuur. Die weduwee is in ’n rystoel en is net betyds deur bure gehelp voor die dak ingeval het. Sy en haar kleinkinders is almal ongedeerd.

In support of celebrating Mandela month today, 23 July 2020, members of Group B, under the command of Brig Jean Westly, Brig Thabo Moeng, Brig Dick de Waal and Brig Adri Basson opened their hearts through a deed of kindness towards a family who was left destitute afterc a raging fire destroyed their house.
A wheelchair bound widow of a late retired police official staying with her 5 grandchildren ages, 8, 9, 10, 14 and 20 respectively woke up to a raging fire recently .
Through God’s grace,the family managed to escape with minor burns and the grandmother was helped by neighbors in the nick of time, just as the roof collapsed.
The team contributed clothing, bedding and groceries through their acts of kindness and hoped the little they have done will go a long way.
Amidst the COVID 19 pandemic that has created many financial woes and now this to a household, the SAPS thought of bringing about some respite through this kind gesture. Group B dedicated their 67 minutes to the destitute and thus invoked the theme TAKE ACTION , INSPIRE CHANGE AND MAKE EVERYDAY A MANDELA DAY in order to make a difference to this family.
