NOORD-KAAP – ’n Man (25) is tot 10 jaar tronkstraf vir die verkragting van ’n 17-jarige meisie gevonnis.
Hy is op 26 Mei 2020 in the Mothibistad-landdroshof gevonnis ná die slagoffer reeds ’n beskermingsbevel teen hom gehad het.

On Tuesday, 26 May 2020 the Mothibistad Regional court sentenced a 25 year old Boitshwarelo Kakue to ten years direct imprisonment for raping a 17 year old girl in April 2019 at Segwaneng village outside Bothithong.
It is reported that the victim, who had a protection order against him was walking from school when she was dragged into the bushes by the suspect, assaulted with fists and stones and also threatened with a knife and forcefully raped. According to the report he further threatened her to withdraw the protection order against him.
Boitshwarelo was arrested the very same day of the offence. A hard working and committed investigating officer Constable Lorato Michelle Badukane suscessfully opposed bail and the suspect remained in custody until his sentencing.
The court also declared the accused unfit to possess a firearm.
The Kuruman Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit Commander Captain Caren Nel applauded and praised Cst. Badukane for her commitment, dedication and passion in ensuring that justice is served.
Moreover, the JTG cluster Commander Major General Johan Bean and the FCS provincial Commander Brigadier Nicky Mills commended the Justice department and NPA for working closely with Cst. Badukane in ensuring that the perpetrator of Gender Based Violence is taken away from the community.
