KURUMAN – In twee aparte voorvalle is vermoedelike onwettige sigarette ter waarde van R250 000 en 30 bottels Jameson-whiskey gekonfiskeer.

Members of the Northern Cape SAPS Public Order Police(POP) unit and all other operational forces are continuing to enforce the regulations of level 4 of the Disaster Management ACT during Covid-19 operations.
On 29 May 2020 at about midnight the POP and Kuruman K9 unit members received information of illegal cigarettes and immediately operationalized it through a roadblock on the N14, close to Kuruman. The Isuzu truck was searched and police found it filled with cigarettes to the value of almost R250 000. Two men were arrested and the truck was also confiscated as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of a crime.
In a seperate incident the following day at about 15:30 the members of the SAPS Operational Response Services(ORS) and all other relevant role players also stopped persons on the N8 roadblock just outside Kimberley and found 30 bottles of Jameson whisky in a silver Mercedes Benz. The alcohol is valued at about R21 000 and the two males were arrested. The investigation continues.
Brigadier Monica Sebili, the Northern Cape SAPS Provincial Head of Operational Response Service(ORS) commended all SAPS members and sister departments for their vigilance and dedication at road blocks.
