The Northern Cape Department of Health confirms that the health personnel will allow a limited number of patients due to COVID -19 risk of transmission at health facilities. As part of the precautionary measures all patients are screened before they access the facility which in turn prolongs the waiting time.
Patients collecting their chronic medication are advised to drop their details with pharmacy personnel to pre-pack and the Ward Based Outreach Teams and Community Health Workers to deliver to their homes.
Sadly, we are still experiencing resistance from community members with regards to the implementation of these measures. Some of the cases that have presented themselves to the facility are cases that can be dealt with at a later stage as they are not emergencies.
The department is determined to comply with the lockdown regulations, hence it is trying to eliminate large groups of people at one area.
