UPINGTON – Victor Brandt, ’n 50-jarige man van Upington, het op 12 Maart vyf jaar tronkstraf gekry vir die oortreding van ’n beskermingsbevel. Sy eksvrou het drie gevalle van oortreding van die beskermingsbevel by die polisie aangemeld.
In ’n ander saak het twee mans elk drie jaar tronkstraf gekry ná hulle ’n man in September 2019 aangerand het. Deon Booysen (20) en Joneth August (21) is aangekla vir aanranding met die doel om ernstig te beseer.

NC:DIRECT SENTENCES FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ASSAULT GBH
A 50 year old man, Victor Brandt received five years direct sentence for contravention of protection order on Thursday, 12 March 2020. The complainant, who is the also the ex-wife reported three cases of contravention of protection order against Brandt of which the last incident was in August 2019.
The team leader of Violent Crimes, Upington Detective Captain De Bruin said acts of violence against women and children are condemned and efforts will made to remove such people from the community.
On another case two men both received three years direct sentences for Assault GBH on Friday, 13 February 2020 . The two Joneth August (21) and Deon Booysen (20) attacked Rashaad Van Wyk with stones in September 2019 that he was later hospitalised with severe injuries.
Captain Anna De Bruin commended Constable Bahedile Nkwadipo for her commitment and a job well done on both cases. END
