Department of Agriculture is looking at changing legislation regarding pit bull dogs

The Sizwe Kupelo Foundation presented a petition to Thoko Didiza, Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, to permanently ban the breed of pit bull dogs.
This week, the department received a petition with more than 139,000 signatures requesting a ban on pit bull dogs as domestic pets.
Didiza indicated that the department is also working with the department of justice and constitutional development to amend the Animal Affairs Amendment Act of 1993.
