A judge upheld the sex trafficking conviction of Ghislaine Maxwell and denied her a retrial.
Maxwell was convicted in December of trafficking young girls to be abused by Jeffrey Epstein.
After the conviction, her lawyers attempted to get a retrial as one of the jurors had lied about being sexually abused.
On Friday, US Circuit Judge Alison Nathan found that Scotty David had testified “credibly and truthfully” during a hearing last month about Maxwell’s attempt to get a retrial.
“His failure to disclose his prior sexual abuse during the jury selection process was highly unfortunate, but not deliberate,” the judge said.
“The court further concludes that Juror 50 harboured no bias toward the defendant and could serve as a fair and impartial juror.”
Maxwell faces up to 65 years in prison and had been expected to appeal her conviction which followed a month-long trial. No sentencing date has been set.
