Stone to death. A 28-year-old man was stoned to death by an angry community in Petanenge village, outside Tzaneen for allegedly raping and murdering a six-year-old girl. The police were called to the scene where the man was killed on Saturday, 19 February 2022.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlalefa Mojapelo said, “Preliminary police investigations found that the little girl went to look for oranges from her grandmother’s house and made it back home. The community joined in the search for the child and was led to the last person who saw the child. The suspect lived in Lusaka village which is nearby.”
Stone to death
The family went to look for the man she was last seen with and found him. The boy confessed to the murder of the child when the family apprehended him. He led the family where he had dumped the body of the child. The deceased child was found, and the boy was stoned to death by the angry residence of the community, said Mojapelo.
On arrival the police found the body of the child who had very bad neck injuries and next to her was a body of a man who was stoned to death.” The Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe has warned community members not to take the law into their own hands, but rather must come forward with the information to the police so the suspects can be arrested.
