A renowned paediatric surgeon has been stripped of his license following a decision made by the HPCSA. Dr. Peter Beale, who is currently facing murder charges in the JHB High Court, has been accused of gross medical negligence.
Two children, Zayyan Sayed (10) and Alissa Strydom (21 months) died on his operating table which led to a legal investigation that eventually found its way to the courtroom.
Dr. Beale is also accused of falsifying the results of a biopsy to save himself.
Beale has continuously maintained his innocence, claiming he has the support of the medical fraternity. But that’s not the position supported by the HPCSA. On Monday evening, it was confirmed that the Council had removed Beale as a registrar on their databases, meaning his license to operate was now invalid.
The case has now been postponed until January 2023.
