Two women and a man arrested for brutal nightclub murder

Police in the Free State have arrested two women and a man for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 22-year-old woman at a nightclub in Dagbreek, Welkom on Monday, 17 January.

SAPS spokesperson in the Free State, Warrant Officer Loraine Earle, said that the deceased was at her place of work on 8 January when she was “brutally murdered by a group of people”. The incident took place at approximately 23:30.

On Monday, members of the Thabong Crime Prevention Unit arrested two women for their role in the alleged murder, after receiving a tip-off.

“The two arrested suspects were taken to Welkom Detectives where more information, leading to the arrest of the third suspect and who is believed to be the mastermind behind the murder, emerged,” said the police spokesperson.

The alleged mastermind is a 25-year-old man. All three arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Welkom Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 19 January.

The police did not disclose the motive for the alleged murder.
