Trevor Noah has taken legal action against a New York surgeon and hospital following an alleged botched surgery.

According to reports Dr. Riley Williams III and the Hospital for Special Surgery located in New York City have reportedly been served with legal papers by Trevor Noah’s lawyers.

Trevor Noah claims to have suffered from a “serious personal injury” of which the exact nature has not yet been disclosed.

Noah claims that the injuries are “permanent, severe and grievous”, which is why he has taken legal action.

The surgery was reportedly performed on 23 November 2021 at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

The lawsuit alleged that Noah “sustained severe nervous shock, mental anguish, severe emotional distress and great physical pain” and was confined to bed for “a long period of time”.

The lawsuit was filed just days after Noah’s surgery on 29 November 2021.

The documents state that the accused “were negligent and careless in failing to treat and care for” the patient “in a careful and skilful manner”. It also stated that they failed “to use approved methods in general use in the care and treatment” of the political commentator.

The lawsuit states that the accused failed “to prescribe proper medications”, failed to “discontinue certain prescription medications”, and failed “to use proper tests and examinations in order to diagnose the conditions from which Trevor was suffering”.”

It also alleged that the accused failed “to inform the plaintiff of the risks, hazards and alternatives to the treatment”.

Making a final point, the lawsuit claims Trevor would have never gotten the surgery if he was made aware of the risks.

“A reasonably prudent person in the position of the plaintiff would have refused the treatment rendered, had they been so informed of the risks, hazards, and alternatives to the treatment rendered,” the lawsuit states further.
