The horse racing world, in Hong Kong experienced a tragic incident during he Group 1 Hong Kong sprint at Sha Tin race course, when jockey Lyle Hewitson’s horse lost its footing several hundred yards into the race, collapsing ahead of a large pack of horses.
This horrific accident, left three jockeys hospitalized, and two horses dead after the horrific fall.
The whole incident was televised, and the video shows Hewiston’s horse, Amazing Star fall, sending the South African jockey to the ground, before being trampled by a stampede of horses.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s executive director, Andrew Harding, says all three men were treated at the Prince of Wales hospital with multiple injuries.
Hewitson suffered from a fractured hip and minor the bleeding, following the horrific accident. Four times Hong Kong champ, Zac Purton, suffered four fractured ribs, a fractured wrist and a broken nose.
The third jockey, Yuichi Fukunaga of Japan, broke his collarbone. Luckily all jockeys survived this horrific accident.
Unfortunately, the two horses weren’t so lucky. Amazing Star and Naboo Attack suffered fatal injuries and had to be euthanized.
