The recent rains may have brought much relief to farmers in drought-stricken areas. However, it has also brought pesky pests – gigantic brown locusts.
According to Agri Northern Cape, the first outbreaks were recorded in the first week of November.
Farmers are advised to remain vigilant and eradicate any early signs of locusts as they have the potential to damage vast areas of land and crops.
