Speedy Mashigo, MEC for Human Settlements for Mpumalanga, endured an ordeal lasting several hours, whereby he was hijacked and kidnapped.
Mashigo was robbed of R25 000, as well as a few valuable possessions.
Police have now asked for the public’s assistance in finding and arresting the alleged hijackers.
Brig. Selby Mhlala, police spokesperson, told EWN that the police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
The SAPS urged anyone with information which can assist in the investigation or the whereabouts of the suspects, to contact detective lt.-col Albert Manzini at 082 318 9925.
