The International Golf Federation (IGF) has confirmed that South African golf player, Paula Reto, tested positive for Covid-19 as part of the final testing protocol before leaving for the Tokyo Olympics and therefore will be unable to compete in the women’s competition.

In accordance with the IGF’s Late Athlete Replacement Policy, Diksha Dagar of India will replace Paula Reto as the next available athlete that was identified by the IGF Reallocation Reserve List, having been nominated by her National Olympic Committee.

Ashleigh Buhai will be Team South Africa’s lone entrant in the event.

The women’s competition will begin on Wednesday, 4 August at Kasumigaseki Country Club.
