ROODEPAN – Ashwin McKay (31) is op 27 Augustus 2020 skuldig bevind aan verkragting en tot sewe jaar tronkstraf gevonnis.
Die slagoffer het op 17 Maart 2018 omstreeks 22:30 huis toe geloop toe McKay haar oorval en verkrag het. Hy is drie ure na die voorval in hegtenis geneem.

The Provincial Head of the FCS, Brig Nicky Mills welcomed the 7 year prison sentence of 31year Ashwin McKay.
On 2018-03-17 at 22h30 the victim was walking home alone when the accused overpowered her and raped her without using a condom.
The investigating officer who was on standby, WO Bonolo Masao, immediately took charge and arrested the accused within 3 hours.
On 2020-08-27 the accused was found guilty and sentenced to 7yrs direct imprisonment.
W/O Masao was commended by Mr Makwala, the Senior Regional Court Prosecutor, for his excellent investigation and good testimony he delivered in court. Lt Col Marli Strydom, Unit Commander of Galeshewe FCS, applauded the investigating officer for his meticulous investigation of the case which resulted in yet another conviction.
