Members of Group D performing COVID 19 crime prevention duties under the command of Brig Nicky Mills dealt a foreign drug dealer a hard blow when they pounced on his home and confiscated a large amount of TIK and CAT worth thousands of rand as well as drug paraphernalia and cash earlier today.
At approximately 14:30 today, 15 August 2020 members from the Kimberley K9 unit, Provincial Organise Crime and Provincial Crime Intelligence units received a complaint of a cellphone that was allegedly stolen out of a house in Black street in New Park.
The members followed up information which led them to a house in Ellen Carter street in Hadison Park in Kimberley at 15:00.
Eddie, the narcotics dog was roped in to sniff out the drugs that was hidden in various locations around the yard .
The house was searched and drug paraphernalia , the stolen cellphone and drugs were also found inside the house.
Cash amounting to R1280-00 believed to be the proceeds of the sale of the drugs was also confiscated.
TIK weighing 1920 grams and 54 grams of CATwas found in different parts of the yard concealed in condoms and small plastic packets under the ground as well as in Lactogen Nestlè baby formula tins. The estimated street value amounts to R500 000-000( five hundred thousand).
A 33 year oldwas arrested and charged with dealing in drugs and will soon appear in the Kimberley Magistrates court. According to Brig Nicky Mills, the police will continue unabated to eradicate and remove drugs from the streets. “We will squeeze the space for criminals to operate”.
