A mother and her four children at Greenpoint outside Kimberley were left homeless after their shantie was reduced to ashes. Luckily no one was hurt during the fire.

The shantie was reportedly burnt yesterday and the family was left only with clothes they were wearing. The family could only manage to get accommodated at a neighbor’s home last night.

Lt Col Esterhuizen from Provincial Human Resource Development and his Team, who are conducting Covid -19 duties in the area, came to their rescue by coordinating with the Sol Plaatje municipality and  the Department of Social  Development for assistance.

Today the family’s shantie was rebuilt and Good  Samaritans assisted with mattresses, blankets and some clothing.

The mother would appreciate clothes for the 1 year old daughter, 10 year old son, 14 year old daughter and 16 year old son.

Ms Johan Jacobs can be contacted at 084 252 1032 or alternatively Lt Col Esterhuizen  at 084 811 4489 for further assistance to the needy family.
