VRYSTAAT. – Ses gr. 8-leerders van Hoërskool Riebeeckstad is gistermiddag oorlede toe ‘n bus waarin hulle gery het naby Ventersburg gerol het.
Palesa Chubisi, woordvoerder van die premierskantoor in die provinsie, sê die ongeluk het op die R70-pad, ongeveer 30 km van Ventersburg plaasgevind.
Ongeveer 58 meisies van die skool was by ‘n sportfunksie vir meisies by Moolmanshoek. Van die meisies wat passasiers op die bus was is ses op die ongelukstoneel dood verklaar. Nog vier meisies is ernstig beseer, agt het matige beserings opgedoen en 40 is lig beseer.
Die beseerde meisies is na hospitale in Welkom en Senekal geneem.
Volgens Veldbrand Radio is die oorsaak van die ongeluk ‘n wiel wat losgekom het.
