Beefmaster Group, Kimberley’s largest private employer and a leading specialist producer of quality beef products to South Africa and beyond, recently hosted a significant event at 8 Myl in Kimberley to recognise and applaud the commitment of its long-serving employees, who have played a pivotal role in the company’s success.

Cindy Nkgoeng, HR Manager at Beefmaster Group, expressed the company’s appreciation for its dedicated workforce, saying, “Our employees are the heartbeat of our success. We are proud to celebrate the loyalty and dedication of our long-serving team members. Their commitment is a testament to the positive work environment we strive to create.”

The event marked a momentous occasion as the company acknowledged the collective years of service by employees, reinforcing Beefmaster Group’s dedication to creating an environment where individuals not only find employment but also thrive in their professional journeys.

“Numerous members of our staff commenced their journey with entry-level positions, steadily advancing through the ranks to assume management roles over the years,” said Nkgoeng.

In total, 49 long-serving employees were honoured. Remarkably, three employees celebrated 30 years of service at Beefmaster Group, Samuel Sebeko, Moses Dire and Michael Gaonewe whose commitment and loyalty have significantly contributed to the company’s success. Furthermore, one employee was recognised for 25 years of service, five for 20 years and nine for 15 years. A total of 31 employees were honoured for ten years of service.

During the ceremony, staff received special framed certificates and accolades. Company executives from both Christiana and Kimberley attended the event, including Gert Blignaut (CEO), Roelie van Reenen (Supply Chain Executive), Andre Bergh (General Manager of Feedlot and Farms) and Tshwaro Ntaolang (Operations manager). The core value of Beefmaster Group as an extended family was highlighted, reinforcing the sense of belonging that keeps employees with the company.

In a commitment to ongoing professional development, Beefmaster Group also celebrated employees who had completed their learnerships in General Management NQF Level 4 (14 employees) and NQF Level 5 (three employees). This qualification addresses and strengthens essential skills required by candidates to be effective managers.

Nkgoeng reiterated the company’s dedication to nurturing talent within its workforce, saying “We believe in providing our employees with opportunities to learn, grow, and excel in their careers. These achievements underscore Beefmaster Group’s commitment to making a difference in South Africa’s challenging employment landscape and invest in Kimberley’s economy through upskilling and the investment into skills development.”

This comes at a time when the country battles with significant challenges in the job market, such as a high youth unemployment rate, with 61% of people ages 15 to 24 without a job, and with 3.2 million South Africans classified as discouraged job seekers.
