Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (NMBM) is well on its way to “day zero”.
With only weeks of water left in the metro’s dams, its Plan B fails due to delays in completing the Nooitgedacht water scheme – and yet residents have not reduced their water consumption.
The dams provided by Nelson Mandela Bay also supply the popular summer holiday destinations of Jeffreys Bay, Cape St. Francis and St. Francis Bay.
According to the Daily Maverick, dr. Gisela Kaiser, who helped Cape Town through its water crisis, said there were only weeks left before the dams dried up.
She says you will no longer be able to flush your toilet and this will continue for months. She warned that what awaits the residents is worse than they think.
