ANC councilor candidate’s cousin killed after failed assassination attempt

There has been a second assassination attempt on a ward councilor candidate in Rustenburg in the North West Province.

According to the victim’s family, the councilor survived but his cousin, who was driving his car, was killed.

It is alleged that three gunmen shot the cousin 12 times on Saturday night. Police launched a manhunt after a 36-year-old man was gunned down on Friday near Boitekong outside Rustenburg.

Meanwhile, the ANC has confirmed that it has dispatched regional party members to visit the family of the victim.

The party added that it is expecting a report on what happened.
