AJ Venter, former Springbok rugby player, has pledged to give one of his most prized memorabilia for the online auction by Care 4 Kings.
In a video released by Braam van Straaten, chairman of Care 4 Kings and former coach of the Southern Kings, AJ says he only has five memorabilia left and he is giving one of them to Care 4 Kings in order to financially help the guys who were left with nowhere to go after the Kings were announced bankrupt.
He holds up a jersey, with signatures on and explains, “This is my own jersey for the year 2007 for the Sharks. What I did is, I had the whole team’s names embroidered on the front and I had them sign – each and every one. You can see Ryan, myself, Jacques Botes. You can go down and see all the legends. BJ Botha, JP Pieterson, Butch James, Ruan Pienaar. On the other side you can see Bismarck du Plessis, Beast, Mtawarira, our coaches that year, Dicky, John Plumtree, Grant Bashford. This was a really a great year. It was an amazing year for me. I really loved playing for the Sharks. A good bunch of guys.”
This jersey, and many more, will be on auction online on 16 & 17 October.
